League Owners, Team Captains, and Discord managers

When you’re done

Your League has its bot integration, or your Team has a webhook for selected notifications.

Leagues use the Heir bot for Discord commands, roles, and notifications. Independent Teams use a webhook to send notifications to a channel, without installing the bot.

Connect a League

1. Open the League's management page and its Discord section, or follow the Discord step while creating the League.
2. Use the provided install/connect action and select the Discord you are authorized to manage.
3. Complete Discord's authorization screen and return to Heir.
4. Run the integration checks. Follow the specific instructions for missing bot permissions, role order, or missing channels.
5. Choose individual or shared Discord Roster roles in the post-install checks, then confirm that the League shows the intended Discord connection.

League ownership and Discord ownership are separate. Being the Discord owner does not silently transfer the Heir League account to you.

Connect an independent Team

1. Choose the Discord text channel that should receive the Team's notifications. Everyone with access to that channel can read the posts, including event details.
2. Ask someone with Manage Webhooks permission to create an incoming webhook for that channel and copy its URL.
3. As the Team Captain, open Manage Team → Discord and enter the webhook URL.
4. Choose which supported events to post and the available display settings, then save.
5. After saving, use Send test to queue a test notification to the saved destination. A queued test is not yet confirmation that Discord received it.

Treat the webhook URL as a secret: anyone holding it can post through that webhook. Heir does not need a bot invitation, Team roles, or permission to create channels. Team membership, attendance responses, and other actions remain on the website.

A Team webhook can post to a Discord that also has a League bot. Each Team configures its own notification destination and preferences.

Update a League installation's permissions

If Heir needs additional permissions, use Manage League → Discord → Bot permissions → Update bot permissions, or open the urgent notification. Authorize the same Discord and wait for the fresh check. Follow the permission-update guide.

This applies to the League bot. A Team webhook does not use bot permissions.

Stop Team notifications

Disable notifications to pause posting, or remove the saved webhook from the Team's Discord settings. Neither action disbands the Team or withdraws its League Enrollments.

Removing the saved URL from Heir does not delete the webhook in Discord. To revoke the URL itself, delete or replace the webhook in Discord's channel integration settings. Save the replacement URL in Heir when you are ready to resume.

Existing Team bot connections

Team notifications now use webhooks. A previous Team bot connection does not automatically provide a webhook URL: the Captain must configure one. Existing Discord messages and channels are not a substitute for the new notification settings.
